911 Is No Joke
September 11th, 2007
Hey lardass! I see you’re working out with your new iPhone! So, what’ll you do if the old ticker kicks and you’ve only got three hand motions left before you black out? Not such a cool phone now, is it? Hmmm?

Yeah, we thought of that. Here’s a one-click dialer for emergencies — just poke the button and you’ll be talking to the fuzz. Seriously, don’t press the button unless you want to be talking to 911. You have to press the button a second time to confirm, but it’ll call right after that. To cancel, press the Home button.
Note: to use this, you’ll need to know how to install third party software on your iPhone. Update: Ste said he’ll add this to his source feed, so you should be able to use Installer.app to install it directly on your iPhone. You can get Installer here.

Can a 112 version of this be released so that it can be used worldwide?

If u can do this, then do another that I can customize who it calls and maybe even let’s me crop someones pic for the icon. I call one or two numbers constantly and this would really be nice.

Hey, can you make a preference panel so we can change the dialed number? In some other countries the emergency number is not 911
Thanks

This is a great idea for an application, I’m definitely putting it in the dock. Is there any chance you will release the source code? I’d love to be able to put a couple of my contacts on the springboard.

Something that would be REALLY cool would be if you could make this into a customizable application. If I could change the number that this dials, I’d have a speed-dial for whatever individual I wanted on the springboard. Just a thought…
